Overview
In this Principal Engineer role, you set technical direction for HighQ, guiding design to production and raising engineering standards. You’ll partner with directors, architects, and staff engineers to shape multi-team outcomes and deliver scalable, reliable software. You’ll code hands-on while mentoring teams and driving AI-enabled capabilities for enterprise clients. The position blends architecture leadership with practical delivery on a high-impact platform.

- Architect complex, scalable, performant systems
- Translate business needs into technically sound designs
- Provide hands-on engineering contribution and code reviews

- Lead integration work with AI/agent platforms to enable AI capabilities in HighQ
- Improve reliability, scalability, and performance for enterprise workloads
- Track record of designing, building, and delivering complex systems in production
- Ability to operate as a senior individual contributor and own outcomes
- Proficiency in Java and Python; broad experience with containerized services, relational databases, and distributed systems patterns
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and architectural direction across multiple teams
- Experience driving reliability, scaling, or performance improvements in production
- Familiarity with AI/LLM integration patterns and production-grade AI features
- Clear communication of complex technical ideas to diverse audiences
