As Principal Engineer (Design Services) you will lead technical design for waste infrastructure schemes within Severn Trent’s Capital Design function. You’ll coordinate with internal teams, consultants and the wider supply chain to drive innovative, compliant designs that meet programme and safety standards. You’ll manage design deliverables, governance gates and risk throughout design, build and operation phases. This role supports the company’s environmental and community goals by delivering high-quality, sustainable solutions. - Coordinate, write and manage multiple service orders for professional design services to meet project requirements
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among sponsors, hydraulic modellers, designers, planners and stakeholders
- Guide the design process, align with inputs, and ensure compliance with programme requirements and safety standards
- Identify, assess and manage risks across design, construction and operation
- Engage internal stakeholders and supply chain to ensure project alignment and outcomes
- Support innovations from suppliers to achieve faster, cheaper delivery and contribute to internal learning labs
- Support project progression through gated governance with clear information and recommendations
- Degree qualified with membership in an engineering Institution or working towards incorporated/chartered status
- Experience as Civil/Structural/Mechanical/Geotechnical (Civil + geotechnical) Engineer, ideally in water/utility sector
- Strong internal and external stakeholder management skills
- Forward-thinking with adaptability in a rapidly evolving environment
