Principal Engineer

Principal Engineer in the newly established Feasibility and Detailed Design Team at Cheshire West and Chester Council. The post leads the design and delivery of highway and transport schemes, including active travel and highway improvements, from feasibility through to construction. The work sits in a multidisciplinary team and includes mentoring engineers as well as project delivery. Fit depends on a strong highway design background and experience of delivering infrastructure projects.

What the job involves

• Lead the development and design of highway and transport schemes
• Manage projects through feasibility, preliminary and detailed design
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineering teams
• Work with internal and external stakeholders and contractors to develop practical solutions
• Support delivery of projects through construction and completion
• Identify, plan and deliver innovative infrastructure solutions
• Ensure schemes are delivered safely and efficiently to legislative, contractual and quality requirements
• Contribute to team development
