Principal Engineer - Edge Delivery & Observability

As a Principal Engineer at the Financial Times, you provide technical direction across Edge Delivery & Observability and API Gateway initiatives, guiding feature teams to deliver robust tooling and SaaS infrastructure. • Provide technical direction to one or two feature teams and ensure delivery of high-quality tooling and products
• Collaborate with people managers and cross-functional teams (delivery, product management) to align efforts
• Model and reinforce inclusive, multidisciplinary culture and drive process improvements
• Manage vendor relationships and understand FT business needs to communicate with peers and senior management
• Collaborate across teams within and outside I&O and contribute to company-wide frameworks
• Maintain and improve observability tooling and cloud edge capabilities, including monitoring and incident readiness
• Take ownership of problems and see solutions through to completion
• Support and optimize core SaaS infrastructure used by other delivery teams
