Overview

As Principal Technical Engineer, you will design, implement, and secure scalable Kubernetes infrastructure while guiding a growing engineering team. You’ll shape cloud platform strategy, mentor engineers, and drive best practices across SDLC. This hands-on role offers influence on critical systems at scale, collaborating with product and cross-functional teams to meet security, reliability, and cost objectives. You’ll play a pivotal part in advancing LSEG’s cloud-first platform and innovation culture.

Responsibilities
  • Lead design, implementation, and maintenance of Kubernetes clusters and related infrastructure
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers, promoting collaboration and continuous learning
  • Drive cloud infrastructure innovation and best practices in design and implementation
  • Develop and manage a team of Agile delivery leads, cloud engineers, and consulting partners for platform services and landing zones
  • Maintain software engineering standards and modern SDLC practices; act as Kubernetes technical authority
  • Understand security, risk/compliance, disaster recovery, high availability, networking, and OS concepts
  • Collaborate with internal teams including Product Owners; advise on Cloud budgeting and optimization
  • Maintain backlog for the Kubernetes container team and oversee delivery
  • Identify process/tool/workflow improvements to enhance efficiency and reliability
  • Work with cross-functional teams to align infrastructure initiatives with business goals
  • Communicate project status and key initiatives effectively to stakeholders
Key requirements
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Extensive experience designing, implementing, and managing Kubernetes-based cloud infrastructure
  • Proven leadership and team management skills with a track record of building and guiding engineers
  • Hands-on software development and Agile delivery experience
  • Experience with Cloud Native technologies on at least one major cloud provider (AWS preferred)
  • Experience delivering production cloud solutions at scale; familiarity with AWS, Azure, GCP
  • Proficiency with infrastructure as code (Terraform, etc.)
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
  • Excellent communication and collaboration with application teams at all levels
  • CKA/CKAD/CKS qualifications are a plus
  • Strong knowledge of security, DR, HA, and networking concepts
