Principal Engineer Reporting Architecture

Lead Xero Reporting & Insights architecture from Vancouver, San Mateo, or Seattle, applying distributed systems and AI expertise to financial data.

As the senior technical leader, you will set multi-year direction across reporting and analytics. You will align engineering, Product, and leadership around target architecture, data foundations, and AI-native capabilities. The work demands high-throughput, low-latency, resilient systems that preserve correctness for customers and accountants.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set a three-year architecture across Reporting & Insights
• Define target states across reporting and Xero Analytics
• Lead foundations supporting approximately 150 reports
• Design safe, explainable AI access to financial data
• Align teams across regions behind one technical direction

Requirements:

• Technical strategy experience spanning two to three years
• Leadership across large, high-traffic, correctness-critical systems
• Depth in distributed systems and data-heavy architecture
• Understanding of LLMs and agents in system design
• Experience mentoring Lead and Senior Engineers
