Overview

In this Principal Full Stack Engineer role, you will shape system design and architecture for Autotrader’s large-scale platform, spanning millions of requests daily. You’ll mentor teams, drive high-quality solutions, and collaborate across cross-functional squads. You’ll work with Java, Spring Boot, React/Angular, and modern data stores to build scalable, reliable software that powers a diverse marketplace. This is an opportunity to influence engineering culture and delivery at scale, in a collaborative, people-first environment.

Pay / Benefits

Responsibilities
  • Design scalable backend and frontend architectures
  • Mentor and lead engineering teams
  • Drive high-quality delivery at scale
  • Collaborate across cross-functional teams to align on architecture
  • Promote best practices such as TDD and continuous delivery
Key requirements
  • Experience across the stack from backend to frontend
  • Proficiency with Java, Spring Boot and JVM ecosystem
  • Architecting complex distributed systems that are scalable and maintainable
  • Frontend experience with React or Angular and TypeScript/modern JavaScript
  • Strong SQL and MongoDB experience
  • Experience with Kafka or event-driven architectures
  • Structured development and testing approach with automation and CD
  • Proven leadership and mentoring ability
