In this role you lead the Linux and VMware estates, shaping secure, resilient, and high‑performing on‑premise services. You will head a specialist team, acting as the senior technical authority and aligning delivery with IT Services and university needs. You drive service improvement, optimisation, and cost effectiveness, including disaster recovery and business continuity planning. This position offers impact across the university’s IT landscape as part of LJMU’s Strategy 2030, with a focus on scalable infrastructure and stakeholder collaboration.

- Design, deliver, administer, optimise and strategically develop Linux and VMware platforms
- Lead a small team of engineers and act as senior technical authority

- Develop and test disaster recovery and business continuity plans for Linux/VMware infrastructures
