Principal Linux/Android Platform Developer

In this role you will advance the Android platform and Linux-based, battery-powered embedded systems used in Sepura’s mission-critical communications. You’ll work within the Software Team to shape platform architecture, optimize performance, and integrate tools for debugging and validation. You’ll contribute across the full development lifecycle, from prototyping to integration testing, in a fast-growing, cross-functional environment. Your work will help deliver robust, secure platforms for diverse public-safety, security, and industrial customers.

• Android platform development including kernel configuration and performance tuning
• Prototype and integrate open-source development tools for debugging, profiling, and memory analysis
• Produce architectural, design, and test specifications
• Integration testing, issue investigation and resolution
• Participation in project planning and technical reviews
• Collaborate in an agile scrum environment to deliver mission-critical products

• Degree level qualification in a relevant discipline
• Strong understanding of Android architecture and ecosystem (low level and security)
• Experience with Linux kernel and system programming
• Experience optimizing Linux/Android performance (power management)
• Experience with Binder, AIDL, Services (C++/Java), Framework APIs, NDK, JNI, CTS, SE Linux
• Excellent knowledge of C++ in real-time, multi-processor, multi-threaded, event-driven software
• Experience developing for mobile platforms
• Experience with debugging, profiling, code-coverage, memory leak detection tools
