Overview

As Principal Software Engineer, you will lead the Server-driven UI platform powering Autotrader’s UK #1 car buying app. You’ll steer architectural scalability, performance, and long-term maintainability across mobile apps, while mentoring engineers and guiding cross-team decisions. You’ll help evolve our backend Kotlin services and the client-side framework to enable online vehicle purchasing at scale. Pay / Benefits
  • 60,000–80,000 salary

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership for the mobile platform and Server-driven UI framework
  • Drive architectural scalability, performance, and maintainability across mobile apps
  • Guide system design and architecture decisions
  • Mentor and coach engineers, promoting best practices across teams
  • Develop and evolve backend Kotlin services to support the UI framework
  • Support high-quality, scalable delivery by engineering teams
Key requirements
  • Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP), Gradle, Spring Boot
  • Extensive experience building iOS and/or Android apps (Swift, Xcode, Instruments or Kotlin, Jetpack, Android Studio)
  • Strong understanding of unit testing, RESTful API design, and regression test automation
  • Experience mentoring engineers and advocating best practices across a team
