As a Principal Platform Engineer, you will shape and evolve ISS STOXX's global cloud platforms across GCP and AWS to secure, scale, and simplify adoption for engineering teams. You will drive the AWS landing zone program in line with our GCP standards, while enabling AI-powered workloads and enterprise-scale automation. The role blends hands-on engineering with technical leadership, influencing architecture, standards, and best practices across teams. You’ll operate at scale, balancing innovation with operational excellence to deliver measurable business value.
Responsibilities- Shape architecture and operations of global cloud platforms (GCP and AWS) for security, scalability, resilience, and ease of consumption by engineering teams.
- Design and mature AWS landing zone capabilities aligned with GCP standards, governance, automation, and developer experience.
- Develop and improve platform services, self-service capabilities, CI/CD tooling, observability, and automation frameworks.
- Contribute to the AI transformation by building platform capabilities and guardrails for AI-powered applications and agentic workflows at scale.
- Act as a technical authority during complex platform challenges and guide high-impact technical problem resolution.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, build proofs-of-concept, and translate successful ideas into reusable platform capabilities.
- Partner with engineering, architecture, security, and product teams to set technical direction and engineering standards.
- Drive continuous improvement in reliability, observability, automation, security, cost efficiency, and developer experience using data-driven practices.
- Mentor and support engineers, promoting platform engineering excellence and a culture of learning and collaboration.
- Contribute to the long-term evolution of Platform and AI Engineering functions balancing operational excellence with innovation.
- At least 10 years of experience in platform or cloud engineering with large-scale enterprise platforms.
- Strong experience designing cloud-native platforms on GCP and/or AWS.
- Experience building or maturing cloud landing zones, governance, and self-service developer platforms.
- Deep understanding of modern cloud architectures (containers, Kubernetes, serverless, APIs, networking, security, identity).
- Mastery of Infrastructure as Code, especially Terraform.
- Experience shipping large-scale CI/CD, automation, and platform capabilities.
- Experience evaluating technologies, building proofs-of-concept, and producing production-ready platform capabilities.
- Experience enabling AI and data-driven workloads on cloud platforms, with governance considerations.
- Strong Python software engineering and automation skills; building reusable tooling and services.
- Experience with modern tooling (GitHub Actions, Apigee, Airflow) and observability stacks (DataDog, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk).
- Strong technical judgement, influence across teams, and mentoring ability.
- Experience in global or distributed engineering environments; excellent communication and stakeholder engagement.
