Overview

As Principal Product Engineer, you own the mobile/product experience end-to-end for our customer apps. You’ll shape a world-class iOS/Android/web experience using React Native and Expo while integrating AI-driven patterns to accelerate delivery features. You’ll lead architectural direction, mentor engineers, and ensure fast, reliable performance in a fast-paced, AI-first environment. This role blends hands-on delivery with strategic influence to deliver customer-centric outcomes at scale. You’ll work cross-functionally to advance Zapp's mission of instant, convenient delivery.

Pay / Benefits
  • base salary 135,000 – 175,000

Responsibilities
  • Own end-to-end mobile feature delivery from design to production
  • Develop iOS/Android/web experiences using React Native and Expo
  • Lead architectural direction and establish mobile patterns and standards
  • Introduce and propagate AI-driven patterns in product development
  • Profile performance, harden release processes, and maintain production health
  • On-call ownership and accountability for shipped features
  • Collaborate with backend, data, and design teams to deliver cohesive experiences
  • Mentor engineers and lift the capabilities of the team
Key requirements
  • 10+ years of production software experience across mobile, backend, frontend, or full-stack
  • Deep React Native and Expo experience with iOS/Android, B2C apps
  • Strong TypeScript proficiency
  • Proactive AI usage in daily work and ability to propagate learnings
  • Product-minded with focus on customer impact and outcomes
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Comfort with ambiguity and driving initiatives end-to-end
  • Experience with automated testing and delivering reliable software
  • Ability to lead and influence across teams and mentor others
  • Willingness to work in London location on-site 3 days/week
