Principal QA Engineer

In this role, you’ll shape how Cloudsmith builds quality across the platform and engineering teams. You’ll embed quality thinking, raise the bar for testing, and enable engineers to own quality in their work. You’ll partner with leadership and squads to scale practices for reliability and performance. • Define and drive the platform-wide quality engineering strategy and metrics
• Build quality capability within engineering teams through coaching, workshops, and risk/coverage discussions
• Define and track measures to assess reliability, quality, and performance improvements
• Shape safe build/shipping practices, including feature flags, canaries, and blast radius reduction
• Promote a culture of quality through documentation, talks, and cross-team facilitation
• Collaborate with engineering leadership on testability from design through production

• 8+ years in QA or quality engineering
• Experience testing at scale on distributed cloud infrastructure (AWS)
• Deep expertise in test automation (E2E frameworks such as Playwright/Cypress), API testing, and CI/CD
• Understanding of software delivery/deployment patterns and release management in cloud-native environments
• Ability to identify risk and drive improvements from gaps in coverage
• Strong facilitation and communication skills
• Belief in quality as a team capability and empowering engineers to own quality
