Overview

As a Principal QA Engineer in Very's Data Engineering team, you will steer the Data QA strategy and enable a scalable automated testing framework for data pipelines, transformations, and reporting. You’ll partner with Data Engineers, Analytics Engineers, and Product teams to bake quality into the data lifecycle and advance AI-enabled testing. This is a leadership role shaping quality practices and the next generation of data platforms.

Responsibilities
  • Define and drive the Data QA strategy across data platforms and products
  • Design and introduce scalable automated testing frameworks for data solutions
  • Develop testing approaches for ETL/ELT pipelines, data transformations, and integrations
  • Create and maintain robust test data strategies and test scenarios
  • Embed quality throughout the development lifecycle with Data Engineering teams
  • Perform data validation, reconciliation, and QA across large datasets
  • Lead root-cause analysis and resolve data quality issues
  • Mentor and coach QA Engineers and promote best practices
  • Champion automation and AI-enabled testing tools across the Data organisation
  • Contribute to modern engineering practices and test management
Key requirements
  • Significant experience in Data QA, Data Testing, Quality Engineering, or SDET roles
  • Strong experience testing modern data platforms, data pipelines, and ETL/ELT processes
  • Excellent SQL skills for data validation and troubleshooting
  • Experience building and implementing test automation frameworks
  • Solid understanding of data quality principles and testing methodologies
  • Experience in cloud environments, ideally AWS
  • Ability to create meaningful test data and complex test scenarios
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Experience mentoring and developing QA professionals
