Principal Rust Engineer

In this role you will design, build, and maintain scalable distributed systems and internal frameworks in Rust. You’ll deliver high-throughput services that support research and trading platforms, collaborating with investment and technology stakeholders. You’ll drive reliability, observability, automation, and engineering standards across the platform, from architecture to production support. You’ll operate in containerised and Kubernetes environments to power a world-class trading infrastructure. This is a hands-on role shaping critical internal technology that directly impacts speed and scalability for a global investment platform.

• Design, build, and maintain scalable distributed systems and internal frameworks using Rust
• Develop high-throughput services and tooling used across research and trading platforms
• Collaborate with investment and technology stakeholders to deliver production-grade solutions
• Contribute across the full software lifecycle from architecture to production support
• Improve platform reliability, frameworks, compute solutions, observability, automation, and engineering standards
• Operate within containerised and Kubernetes-based environments

• Strong commercial Rust experience in complex backend or systems environments
• Background building distributed systems or large-scale compute platforms
• Experience with production-grade microservices using Docker and Kubernetes
• Strong Linux knowledge and familiarity with CI/CD and automation tooling
• Experience with large datasets, scalable infrastructure, or high-availability systems
• Confident communication and collaboration with technical stakeholders
• Python exposure is advantageous
