Overview

As a hands-on Principal Salesforce Engineer, you will design, build, and deliver scalable Salesforce solutions for Schroders’ global business. You’ll lead technical design, uphold engineering standards, and drive platform integrity while mentoring other engineers. You’ll design robust integrations to connect Salesforce with upstream and downstream systems, and advance DevOps maturity with CI/CD and automated testing. You’ll explore AI-enabled capabilities on Salesforce to boost productivity and client engagement, delivering tangible value through practical, well-tested solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Lead technical design and hands-on development of scalable Salesforce solutions for Public and Private businesses
  • Own engineering standards, code quality, governance, and platform integrity to ensure maintainability and performance
  • Design and build integrations connecting Salesforce with upstream/downstream systems for joined-up client journeys
  • Advance DevOps maturity through CI/CD, automated testing, and release management
  • Deliver proof-of-value and proof-of-concept builds to de-risk delivery and secure investment
  • Leverage AI capabilities (Salesforce Einstein, Agentforce) from concept to implementation to enhance decision-making and engagement
  • Mentor engineers, lead code reviews, and raise team technical capability
Key requirements
  • Extensive hands-on Salesforce development experience in a large global financial services organisation
  • Apex, Lightning Web Components, Flows, and declarative configuration
  • Salesforce Certified Platform Developer I (minimum); Platform Developer II or related architect certifications desirable
  • Strong REST/SOAP API integration experience; event-driven patterns; MuleSoft middleware
  • DevOps and CI/CD tooling experience (e.g., Git, Copado, Gearset, Azure DevOps); automated testing and release management on Salesforce
  • Deep understanding of Salesforce architecture, data modelling, security, governor limits, and best practices
  • Hands-on experience producing technical designs, specifications, and high-quality code
  • Broad engineering experience across multiple capabilities, systems, and teams; adaptability and collaboration
  • Strong SDLC knowledge (Agile, Waterfall, hybrid) and modern engineering disciplines
  • Excellent stakeholder management and ability to communicate across technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience working with global colleagues and sensitivity to time zones and cultures
