Overview

As Principal Engineer, you will shape the architecture and direction of our API platform, guiding scalable cloud-native systems and event-driven services. You will work with cross-functional squads to solve distributed systems challenges at scale and drive innovation in areas like AI-powered engineering and observable architectures. This role pairs hands-on coding with technical leadership to elevate engineering excellence across security, performance, and maintainability. You’ll influence strategic decisions and mentor engineers while collaborating with product and delivery leaders to deliver high-impact platforms that power global brands.

Responsibilities
  • Define the architectural vision for the API ecosystem
  • Design and develop scalable, cloud-native distributed systems
  • Build high-throughput event-driven services using Kafka
  • Drive engineering excellence across security, observability, performance, and maintainability
  • Mentor and coach engineers and technical leaders across multiple squads
  • Collaborate with Product, Delivery, and Engineering leadership on strategic technical decisions
  • Champion modern development practices including TDD, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and automated testing
  • Explore and embed AI-powered engineering capabilities into workflows and platform
Key requirements
  • Proven experience architecting large-scale distributed systems in the cloud
  • Deep expertise in APIs, event-driven architectures, and containerised applications
  • Strong knowledge of AWS and modern DevOps practices
  • Experience leading engineering teams and influencing technical direction across squads
  • Passion for software craftsmanship, clean architecture, and scalable design
  • Mentoring mindset and collaborative leadership style
  • Curiosity around AI and emerging engineering technologies
  • Experience with Salesforce or enterprise CRM ecosystems is a strong advantage unknown
