Overview

As a Principal Software Engineer in Corpay’s Alpha division, you’ll lead technically across the Client Lifecycle domain to design and operate secure, scalable systems for KYC, onboarding, accounts and data. You will work with cross-functional partners to translate regulatory needs into pragmatic architectures and incremental deliverables. You’ll stay hands-on, shape engineering standards, and mentor others to raise technical judgment. This role offers impact across multiple teams, contributing to reliable financial services in a regulated environment. You’ll operate as a senior technical leader in London, driving architecture decisions and high-quality delivery at scale.

Responsibilities
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership across the Client Lifecycle vertical, guiding design and operation of systems for KYC, onboarding, accounts, operations and data
  • Define architectural standards and reusable patterns to enable secure, scalable solutions
  • Design distributed, event-driven and cloud-native systems with trade-offs on consistency, resilience, security and performance
  • Translate strategic/regulatory requirements into target architectures and incremental delivery plans
  • Prototype complex solutions and contribute production-grade code where it adds value
  • Own technical quality of cross-team initiatives including architecture reviews and production readiness
  • Use data expertise to guide data modelling, quality, lineage and performance
  • Ensure data pipelines, warehouses and integrations are reliable, governed and fit for purpose
  • Champion AWS-native design with serverless, messaging, storage, compute and IaC practices
  • Design secure APIs and backend services for regulated financial services
  • Review code/designs and raise engineering quality without bottlenecking delivery
  • Mentor engineers to raise technical standards across teams
  • Investigate production issues and drive durable improvements
  • Communicate strategy, risks and progress to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Key requirements
  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience in senior technical leadership roles
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Strong distributed-systems and AWS expertise with relational and NoSQL data, SQL and data platforms
  • Expert-level experience in distributed systems, microservices and event-driven architectures in production
  • Hands-on AWS experience including serverless and IaC; practical AWS CloudFormation desirable
  • Strong backend experience with C# and .NET; ability to adapt with other tools as needed
  • Experience with asynchronous messaging and event streaming (e.g., EventBridge, SQS/SNS, Kafka, RabbitMQ)
  • Deep understanding of data modelling, SQL, indexing and data-access patterns across relational/NoSQL databases
  • Experience with Databricks, Salesforce SOQL, DynamoDB, Tableau or similar data tools
  • Ability to design reusable APIs and resilient, observable services for financial workflows
  • Security-focused design in regulated environments and strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and ability to influence senior stakeholders; mentoring experience
  • Experience in financial services, payments, banking or regulated industry; KYC/onboarding/workflows
