Principal Software Engineer - UK

In this leadership role, you shape and evolve scalable architectures using Distributed Domain Driven Design. You will act as a strategic guide for architecture quality attributes and provide embedded consultation to projects. You’ll drive platform capability improvements and standardize architecture descriptions with automation. You collaborate with stakeholders to align on architectural decisions and communicate complex concepts clearly. • Define and evolve architecture using Distributed Domain Driven Design practices
• Lead architecture strategy for critical quality attributes (availability, performance, scalability, security)
• Provide project-embedded architecture consultation and promote best practices and design patterns
• Prioritize platform capability improvements across feature and data platforms
• Enhance communication of architecture through automation and tools

• 15+ years of relevant experience
• Experience with high volume distributed architectures emphasizing reliability and availability
• Experience with big data technologies (Elasticsearch, NoSQL, Kafka, columnar DBs, DataFlow/pipeline systems, Graph stores)
• Experience with infrastructure services (enterprise message bus, configuration services, toggle management, observability/logging/tracing)
• Knowledge of Domain Driven Design concepts and practices (bounded contexts, event storming, specification by example)
• Experience with data-intensive distributed systems design/operation
• Ability to design/communicate architectural perspectives (SOA, Docker-based services, microservices) using patterns and sequence diagrams
• CI/CD with automation tools (Terraform, Jenkins, CodePipeline)
• Knowledge of API/data model design and scalable storage mappings
• Knowledge of multiple software stacks
• Experience performing software design/operation in a cloud environment (AWS/Azure/GCP)
• Understanding of security-focused design and third-party component selection
