Overview

In this role you will lead the technical strategy for Appian’s largest federal engagements, shaping acquisition paths and acting as a top technical and strategic advocate. You’ll partner with senior agency leaders to co-create secure architectures and demonstrate AI-powered automation at scale. The role blends enterprise storytelling with deep technical delivery, driving multi-million-dollar federal growth and influencing product direction. You’ll operate at the intersection of government needs and Appian’s platform, delivering measurable modernization impact.

Responsibilities
  • Orchestrate the technical strategy for multi-million-dollar public sector deals and complex federal procurement cycles (RFIs, RFPs, OTAs)
  • Advise senior agency executives and flag officers, leading architecture reviews and visioning workshops
  • Translate federal requirements into Appian-powered roadmaps emphasizing deployment agility and value delivery
  • Create persona-based technical narratives and advanced demos using AI, Appian Data Fabric, and secure deployment frameworks
  • Scale knowledge assets by mentoring junior consultants and contributing reusable blueprints and demos
  • Collaborate with Public Sector Account Executives to map whitespace, grow pipeline, and sustain a high technical win rate
  • Influence product direction by feeding field patterns and federal needs back to Product, Marketing, and Customer Success
Key requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • 8+ years in pre-sales solutions consulting, software architecture, or strategic technology consulting
  • 3+ years directly supporting federal government clients
  • Proven success closing high-stakes software deals with federal compliance (FedRAMP, FISMA, DoD RMF) and secure architectures
  • Proficiency with Java, Python, SQL, or JavaScript
  • Willingness to travel 50%–70% for in-person briefings and meetings across federal locations
