Overview
As Principal Statistical Programmer, you lead programming across studies, driving high-quality analysis outputs and technical excellence. You’ll mentor junior programmers, adopt modern tools and AI-enabled workflows, and ensure regulatory compliance. You contribute to strategy, stand up robust governance for clinical data, and partner with cross-functional teams to accelerate HIV programs. This role offers impact through shaping analytics for Phase 1–4 studies and advancing data-driven decision making.

- Lead programming for studies ensuring efficient development and validation of analysis packages
- Select appropriate tools/languages and solve complex technical challenges
- Identify and implement improvements including AI/ML
- Contribute to departmental initiatives and technical strategy
- Ensure adherence to standards (GPP, CDISC) and regulatory requirements; perform QC on outputs and documents
- Maintain governance and oversee TMF compliance
- Drive adoption of modern technologies, standards, and Agile practices
- Provide technical input on programming strategies and study design; act as SME for emerging tools
- Communicate technical concepts, risks, and timelines to stakeholders; mentor junior programmers
- Support sprint planning and project delivery; collaborate cross-functionally; manage data access; support regulatory interactions and CoE activities
- Lead Programmer for complex or multiple studies; ensure quality, compliance, and efficient execution; make data-driven decisions and address risks/issues
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field
- Expertise in R programming
- 6+ years of clinical programming experience
- 5+ years of experience in the Pharmaceutical or Biotechnology industry
- Experience using generative AI tools and coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Codex, and Claude) to improve programming efficiency and workflows
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Strong communication and stakeholder management
