Overview

As Principal Systems Architect, you own the architecture for one or more product software systems and guide engineering teams to deliver modular, maintainable, and efficient designs. You shape high-level architectures, mitigate early-stage risks, and ensure alignment with business goals and regulatory requirements. You collaborate with Product Management, Service, Research, and cross-functional teams to drive architectural strategy and technical roadmaps. This role combines technical authority with leadership to deliver high-impact radiotherapy software solutions at Elekta.

Responsibilities
  • Own system or subsystem architectures and ensure designs meet best practices for modularity, maintainability, and efficiency.
  • Develop architecture and high-level designs to enable smooth progression into detailed design and development.
  • Identify and resolve critical technical and non-functional risks through modeling, prototypes, or feasibility studies.
  • Drive system and subsystem development across teams, ensuring alignment with architecture and best practices.
  • Approve technical and non-functional requirements based on product needs.
  • Create and maintain roadmaps for software technologies and assist in sourcing and deployment.
  • Build deep domain understanding and mentor engineers to grow their technical capabilities.
  • Maintain awareness of architecture trends, communicate with stakeholders, and align with product strategy and regulatory expectations.
  • Ensure compliance with Elekta quality processes and support safety/regulatory assessments.
  • Contribute to audits, manage non-conformances, and promote continuous improvement in tools and processes.
Key requirements
  • Degree in Engineering
  • Fluent in English with strong communication skills
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal abilities

  • Understanding of Agile & Scrum methodologies
  • Knowledge of product development practices, tools, technologies
  • Object oriented design
  • Service or micro-service based architectures
  • Enterprise Architect, SysML, UML
  • Hands-on development experience (C#/.NET)
  • Experience in regulated safety or security environments
  • Knowledge of medical technology and regulatory frameworks (beneficial)
  • Azure DevOps / Git (beneficial)
