Principal Systems Engineer

Overview

Operations Director at Synergize Consulting Ltd. Our client has a fantastic opportunity for a Senior or Principal Systems Engineer to carry out research into the next generation of airborne mesh networks.

This role will require a breadth of understanding of different network protocols and routing algorithms. You will consider the pros and cons of designing a network in different ways and study where the network protocols themselves need to be adapted to meet project requirements. You will be working with the client’s team, subcontractors and partners.

What you’ll bring

• Good understanding of networking protocols, including the function of different protocols in the stack, alternatives, and rationale for design choices.
• Ability to design meaningful experiments and interpret results.
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate ideas to varied audiences.
• Preferred or advantageous experience/knowledge in:
• Research to investigate novel networking algorithms
• Commonly used network simulation tools
• Software engineering techniques
• Wireless communications

Role activities

• Investigate different approaches for the design of airborne mesh networks.
• Specify networking simulations using third-party tools or a Leonardo-developed environment.
• Analyze simulation results and propose improvements to the design; assist in creating standardisation proposals.
