As a Principal Systems Engineer at Safran in Gloucester, you will lead the end-to-end development of aircraft landing gear systems, ensuring alignment with customer needs, regulatory requirements, and Safran processes. You will plan and oversee system development, manage requirements, verification, and supplier interactions, and mentor junior engineers. - Ensure lifecycle adherence to development plans
- Lead requirements definition at system, sub-system, and equipment levels
- Lead requirements validation and document validation evidence
- Manage product verification planning and evidence
- Set up and maintain requirements management tools (IBM DOORS Classic/NG)
- Produce systems engineering documentation (requirements, matrices, DDP dossiers)
- Write specifications for landing gear equipment (hydraulic actuators, hoses, electrical harnesses)
- Act as technical liaison with equipment suppliers
- Provide technical leadership across the systems engineering team
- Strong understanding of Systems Engineering principles (requirements management, validation, verification)
- Knowledge of aircraft landing gear systems (ATA32) or equivalent complex aerospace systems
