Principal Systems Engineer

In this role you will lead and deliver complex, high-value systems programmes for MOD test ranges and the testing of evolving military equipment. You’ll collaborate with Mission Rehearsal teams across diverse technologies and manage full lifecycle artefacts from concept to service. You will technically steer the overall solution and mentor engineers while engaging wide stakeholder groups. This position offers impact in defence tech with opportunities to shape ambitious test and integration projects, and requires eligibility for SC clearance.

- Lead technical delivery of complex/high-value systems programmes to time, cost and quality
- Deliver systems engineering artefacts from requirements to transition to service; write and review artefacts and mentor junior engineers
- Engage broadly with cross-business stakeholders to align on requirements, risk and change
- Tailor project lifecycles and engineering governance; advise and mentor peers
- Lead technical, assurance, and systems engineering activities within your programme area
- Oversee subcontracted activity, ensuring SOIs, specifications and acceptance criteria are achievable and risks are mitigated
- Specialism in Systems Engineering or related technical discipline; broadening willingness
- Proven track record leading technical programmes through lifecycle to service
- Understanding of engineering planning, monitoring and control, concurrent engineering, and multi-disciplinary integration
- Understanding of safety-critical systems and safety-related functions
- Advanced knowledge of systems integration across facilities, equipment, control, communication, software and IT
- Degree-level qualification or equivalent; MSc or higher preferred or equivalent experience
