The role

We're looking for a Principal Systems Engineer to lead Systems Engineering activities across complex defence projects. You’ll own SE work packages, assure ISO 15288 processes, guide multi‑discipline teams, and drive the development of high‑quality system architectures and artefacts.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and represent Systems Engineering across major projects.
• Develop SE artefacts and ensure compliance with standards.
• Provide technical direction across system, hardware, firmware & software teams.
• Lead internal and customer design reviews.
• Support bids, proposals, estimates, and supplier management.
• Mentor engineers and help grow systems capability across the business.

What You Bring

• Degree in Engineering/Maths/Physics or equivalent experience.
• Strong experience with full SE lifecycle, V‑model, and ISO/IEEE/IEC standards.
• Skilled in requirements, system design, and technical documentation.
• Proficient with DOORS, UML, SysML, Enterprise Architect.
• Background in hardware, software or firmware (embedded preferred).
• Team leadership or line management experience.

Desirable: INCOSE ASEP/CSEP, SME experience, familiarity with NCSC security processes.

• Current SC clearance or Eligible
• UK travel and clean driving licence.
