Principal Technologist, Core AI Services

In this role you will lead the design, development, and scaling of AI-enabled platform services and public APIs that underpin AVEVA’s AI adoption across products and partners. You will work within an agile, builder-minded team to deliver secure, production-grade AI capabilities on cloud-native infrastructure. You’ll stay ahead of AI engineering patterns and translate emerging tech into enterprise-ready software. This position offers impact across data pipelines, AI tooling, and model deployment at scale.

• Act as technical authority for core services focusing on design, reliability and performance
• Build scalable, fault-tolerant cloud-native services on Microsoft Azure
• Develop secure, well-documented public APIs and SDKs for internal and external developers
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end solutions across data pipelines, orchestration, and service APIs
• Embed robust security controls to protect data and ensure secure access to AI services
• Lead and contribute to design reviews, code reviews, and architectural discussions
• Mentor junior developers and foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation
• Work with multiple teams to create AI solutions including model deployment, training, and tooling development

• 12+ years of software engineering experience, with preference for platform or cloud-native service development on Microsoft and .NET technologies
• Hands-on experience with containerised deployments in Kubernetes
• Strong expertise in RESTful API design, versioning, testing, and lifecycle management
• Proficiency in securing APIs, authentication/authorization and data privacy practices
• Fluent in AI tools such as GitHub Copilot and capable of using prompt engineering for development tasks
• Excellent problem-solving skills for complex technical challenges and scalable solutions
• Experience in Agile environments and collaborating across global R&D locations
• Proven ability to mentor junior team members and drive continuous learning and innovation
