As Principal Test Engineer, you will lead and shape the test engineering function, driving advanced test solutions for quality, efficiency, and operational excellence. You’ll collaborate with Manufacturing, Production, Quality and Design to solve complex test challenges and push continuous improvement. Your expertise in ATE, diagnostics, and test strategy will steer the next generation of test capabilities and NPI activities. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on problem solving to elevate product readiness and manufacturing performance.
Responsibilities- Provide technical leadership across test engineering and set the strategies, standards, and best practices
- Design, validate and deploy robust test solutions and promote innovative testing technologies
- Act as lead technical specialist for complex test and equipment issues, leading root cause investigations
- Support Design for Test (DfT) and New Product Introduction (NPI) activities
- Collaborate with manufacturing to improve FPY, equipment uptime, test cycle times and overall efficiency
- Identify and implement automation and process improvements; analyze test performance data to drive gains
- Develop and maintain test specifications, procedures, and engineering standards; ensure regulatory and customer requirements are met
- Mentor teams, share knowledge through documentation, and promote continuous learning
- Degree, HND, HNC, or equivalent in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related Engineering discipline
- Lean Six Sigma certification or experience is advantageous
- Significant experience in a test engineering role within a manufacturing environment
- Proven track record of developing and improving test systems and processes
- Experience supporting production operations and resolving complex technical issues
- Experience leading technical improvement projects and influencing cross-functional teams
- Strong understanding of automated test systems (ATE) and fault-finding, diagnostic, and root cause analysis skills
- Experience with measurement systems, instrumentation, and data analysis
- Familiarity with 8D, RCA, or Six Sigma problem-solving methodologies
- Strong communication and influencing skills
