Principle Solution Architect

In this role you will shape and modernise the digital future of the power network, leading a data-driven Digital Twin of the transmission system. You will align architecture with enterprise strategy, governance, and regulatory requirements while collaborating with product teams and stakeholders. You’ll apply cloud, data science, and AI tounlock operational insights, supporting a smarter, more sustainable energy network. This is a hands-on leadership role at the intersection of power systems and digital technology with a strong impact on the energy transition.

• Design a sophisticated Digital Twin of the electricity transmission network
• Create secure, cost-effective, and maintainable solutions for network planning across England and Wales
• Develop target and transition state architectures for key network design capabilities
• Create architecture roadmaps aligned with Enterprise Architecture strategy, governance, and business goals
• Provide technical leadership across programs and projects
• Lead development of business capability models and value streams
• Develop solution designs to resolve complex business problems
• Guide and assure architectural designs within product teams
• Contribute to Solution Design Authority (SDA) review meetings
• Document design decisions and present conceptual solutions to stakeholders
• Facilitate architecture workshops and design reviews
• Explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders and influence investment decisions
• Evaluate technology and assess vendors
• Build strong relationships with internal teams and external partners
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to product teams
• Gather, analyse, and validate functional and non-functional requirements
• Identify and manage technical risks and issues

• Experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale technology solutions
• Proven track record as a Solution Architect
• Strong understanding of TOGAF and Zachman
• Deep understanding of integration patterns and API-based architectures
• Proven experience working within Azure
• Strong understanding of security architecture principles
• Experience in highly regulated environments
• Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
