Description

RDM Recruiting is partnering with a well-established water and wastewater infrastructure contractor to hire a Project Accountant for their corporate office in Gainesville, FL. This is a full-time, on-site role with a stable company that has steady public project work across the Southeast.

About the Role

You’ll own the billing and job accounting for a portfolio of construction projects, working closely with project managers and superintendents to keep contracts, change orders, and job costs accurate and on time.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare and submit monthly progress billings according to each contract, including pay applications, supporting documentation, and certified payroll on prevailing wage projects
• Review contracts for billing terms and subcontractor requirements
• Process subcontractor invoices and payments, and track insurance certificates
• Prepare lien releases for customers and vendors
• Set up new jobs, load budgets, and enter contract values and change orders
• Review job cost detail, resolve variances, and prepare weekly job cost reports for project teams
• Verify superintendent timesheets and expenses are coded to the correct projects
• Manage project sales tax exemptions, licenses, and tax accounts
• Close out completed jobs and keep project files organized and complete
• Look for ways to improve billing and job accounting processes

What We’re Looking For

• 3 to 5 years of billing or project accounting experience, ideally with a contractor xhqgsiq
• Hands-on experience with progress billing, retainage, and change orders
• Strong Excel skills and comfort working in an accounting system
• Associate degree preferred, but strong experience matters most
• Experience with Deltek Costpoint, certified payroll, or public works projects is a plus

Compensation

• $70,000 to $80,000 base salary
• Full benefits package
