Project Controls Accountant

Drive project controls and financial reporting for Valard Construction’s Substations group in Calgary, Markham, or Port Hawkesbury. Apply advanced Excel skills and construction accounting knowledge.

This Project Controller serves as a financial subject matter expert for Project Managers and project leadership. Reporting to the Manager, Business Performance, the position manages budgets, forecasts, job costing, WIP reporting, and project analytics. Occasional travel to active Canadian project sites is required, up to 10 percent.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain contract value files and project risk registers
• Review weekly JD Edwards job reports and indirect costs
• Revise forecasts and prepare margin analysis commentary
• Prepare weekly, monthly, and external productivity reporting
• Train Project Managers on financial processes and tools

Requirements:

• Post-secondary accounting, finance, or related education
• Five years of progressive accounting experience in construction
• Proven project forecasting, budgeting, and lifecycle reporting ability
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and JD Edwards, SAP, or similar ERP
• CPA designation or active progress toward designation preferred
