Our client is in Richmond Hill and they are looking for a Property Accountant to help support their management team. Our client currently manages a portfolio of multi-family real estate assets totaling over $2 billion in value, generating gross annual income in excess of $200 million.
The Property Accountant will be responsible for the following:
- Provide full-cycle accounting support for a portfolio of properties, including journal entries, reconciliations, financial statements, and budget reviews.
- Complete monthly variance analysis and identify key drivers impacting property performance.
- Support accounting activities related to acquisitions, dispositions, refinancing, and supplemental loan transactions.
- Collaborate with Operations, Corporate Accounting, Investor Reporting, Payroll, Acquisitions, Finance, and Accounts Payable to resolve accounting questions and provide financial insights.
- Contribute to portfolio-wide initiatives, including executive reporting, investor packages, property tax, retail CAM reconciliations, and loan requirements.
- Assist with external audits and investor reporting requirements.
- Prepare year-end schedules and review U.S. partnership tax returns for investors.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting, and workflows and implement innovative solutions.
- Support the development of new reporting and analysis tools across the portfolio.
- Leverage technology to improve efficiency, accuracy, and decision-making
Must Have:
- 2+ years of experience in accounting, audit, or FP&A; industry experience is an asset.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel; VBA and SQL experience is an asset.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a passion for understanding the numbers behind business performance.
- A curious, solutions-oriented mindset with an interest in technology and continuous improvement.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- A proactive approach to learning and taking on new challenges.
- Passion for accounting, finance, and data-driven decision-making.
- Enrollment in a CPA or other financial designation program is considered an asset.
3 days per week in-office in Richmond Hill (Tues/Wed/plus 1)
