Calgary · Alberta · Canada

Our client is an established commercial real estate management firm seeking an experienced Property Accountant to join its Calgary-based team. Bring your commercial real estate accounting expertise to a collaborative organization, supporting accurate financial reporting and the performance of a diverse property portfolio. This newly created position results from an internal promotion and company growth.

Your New Employer

Our client has provided third-party property and asset management services since 2003. Based in Calgary, the company manages approximately 2 million square feet of office, industrial and retail properties across Calgary, Edmonton, Red Deer and Airdrie. Its accounting team supports the financial management of approximately 50 properties, providing timely, accurate information to colleagues and clients.

Your New Role

You will manage full-cycle accounting for an assigned property portfolio, including financial reporting and variance analysis. Your responsibilities will include annual budgeting, year-end common area maintenance (CAM) recoveries, cash management, bank reconciliations and client distribution calculations.

You will prepare and file GST returns, assemble working papers for annual CAM and financial year-end audits, and complete tenant and lease setups. You will also post bank receipts, maintain accounting records and work with colleagues across the business to support reliable financial information.

What Sets You Apart

You bring relevant hands‑on accounting experience within the commercial real estate industry and a strong understanding of commercial real estate accounting principles and practices. We are open to candidates at different stages of their careers and are particularly interested in individuals who can demonstrate strong technical capability, attention to detail and the ability to take ownership of their responsibilities.

You are proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and comfortable working with financial data and accounting systems. Highly organized and detail‑oriented, you work accurately and efficiently, manage competing priorities and consistently meet deadlines. You communicate clearly and professionally and work effectively both as part of a collaborative team and independently.

Why Join?

Join a small, growing company where employees are valued, and the culture is supportive, fun and caring. The team works together to look after tenants, clients and each other, guided by three simple values: paying attention, caring and asking “why.” You will have the opportunity to contribute your accounting expertise across a varied commercial portfolio within a collaborative team.
