Psychiatry Physician

A strong hospital network in NJ is seeking a full-time Adult Inpatient Psychiatrist to support a newly expanded 15-bed Behavioral Health Unit. The unit is currently operating at an average daily census of 14-15 patients with 90-95% occupancy, and the organization anticipates continued growth over the coming months. This physician will join an established behavioral health team consisting of one psychiatrist, one APRN, and per diem psychiatrists who assist with weekend and call coverage.

Requirements

• MD or DO degree
• Completion of an accredited Psychiatry residency program
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
• New Jersey medical license or ability to obtain
• 3-5 years of inpatient psychiatry experience preferred
• Strong experience treating severe mental illness, psychiatric emergencies, substance use disorders, and acute behavioral health conditions
• Experience with involuntary psychiatric treatment, commitment processes, and emergency psychiatric interventions strongly preferred
• Ability to perform comprehensive risk assessments including suicide, violence, and grave disability evaluations
• Strong understanding of state and federal regulations related to inpatient psychiatric care and patient rights
