Locums - Atlantic City, New Jersey, Psychiatry Job

Expected End Date: July 25, 2027

Schedule

  • 7 days on / 7 days off

  • Overnight shifts: 7:00 PM-7:00 AM

  • All coverage is onsite in the psychiatric emergency room/screening center

  • No call coverage

  • The workweek begins Monday at 7:00 PM and ends with the final shift starting Sunday at 7:00 PM and ending Monday at 7:00 AM

  • 84 hours onsite per week, including 7 hours for breaks/meals, for a paid total of 80 hours per week

  • The psychiatrist is off every other week

Practice Setting

  • Hospital-based psychiatric emergency room/screening center

  • Psychiatric emergency services

  • Technically outpatient psychiatric emergency evaluations

  • Level II Trauma Center

  • EMR: Oracle/Cerner FirstNet

  • Credentialing timeframe: Approximately 2 months

Patient Population & Volume

  • Adult psychiatric patients

  • Pediatric psychiatric patients

  • Psychiatric crisis evaluations

  • Average of 8-10 patients per shift

Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychiatric emergency evaluations

  • Evaluate adult patients and children/adolescents in crisis settings

  • Determine appropriate patient disposition

  • Manage psychiatric medications

  • Determine need for psychiatric admission, discharge, or observation

  • Supervise and teach psychiatry residents during applicable shifts

  • Provide onsite overnight coverage in the psychiatric emergency setting

Leadership & Teaching

  • Teaching responsibilities required

  • Psychiatry resident supervision required during applicable shifts

  • No formal leadership responsibilities

Requirements

  • Board certified or truly board eligible in Psychiatry

  • American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) certification

  • Active New Jersey medical license

  • Experience with psychiatric emergency evaluations

  • Adult psychiatry experience

  • Pediatric psychiatric evaluation experience

  • Interest in resident teaching and supervision

  • Active BLS, DEA, and CSR/CDS
