Apexon is a digital engineering services company helping organizations build modern, scalable technology solutions. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to work with experienced engineering teams on high-impact financial technology platforms and distributed systems .

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to design and build highly scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions for a core banking platform .

You’ll join a cross-functional engineering team building and enhancing a distributed, microservices-based platform that processes high volumes of financial transactions. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to system architecture, technical design, product design, and end-to-end feature delivery .

What You’ll Do

  • Design, develop, and deliver high-quality backend features and enhancements
  • Own the end-to-end delivery of large-scale initiatives spanning 3+ months
  • Create and contribute to technical and system design specifications
  • Participate in sprint planning, estimation, and technical discussions
  • Design and build secure, scalable, distributed systems
  • Optimize application and system performance to meet defined SLAs
  • Conduct peer code reviews and promote engineering best practices
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a strong engineering culture
  • Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and cross-functional teams

What You Bring

  • 7+ years of professional software development experience
  • Strong experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems
  • Strong proficiency in Python ; experience with another object-oriented language is also considered
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with MySQL
  • Solid understanding of RDBMS concepts , including transactions, isolation levels, locking, and deadlocks
  • Experience with RabbitMQ or similar message brokers
  • Experience with Docker and containerized environments
  • Experience with GitHub or similar source-code repositories
  • Comfortable working in Unix/Linux environments
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills

Nice to Have

  • Experience integrating with Payroll Providers and Time & Attendance platforms
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms
  • Experience working in financial services, banking, or other high-volume transaction environments

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Degree must be from a Canadian or U.S. university
