Overview

In this role you design and build data platform components using Python to support data engineering and analytics at a hedge fund. You’ll develop and optimise ETL pipelines, data lakes/lakehouses, and distributed systems, while improving infrastructure and CI/CD practices. You’ll maintain and evolve microservices and data tools, ensuring reliable, high-performance platform operations. You join a small, collaborative team with ownership and meaningful impact, solving data-driven challenges at scale.

Responsibilities
  • Design and build data platform components using Python
  • Develop and optimise ETL pipelines, Data Lakes / Lakehouses and distributed systems
  • Improve infrastructure, observability and CI/CD practices
  • Maintain and evolve existing systems (microservices, ETL, Excel add-ins)
  • Support platform operations, ensuring reliability and performance
Key requirements
  • Strong backend development experience with Python
  • Experience working with financial or market data
  • Experience designing and operating data-intensive and distributed systems
  • Strong knowledge of databases (Relational, NoSQL and Columnar)
  • Keen to own and work across the full development lifecycle
  • Collaborative and pragmatic with stakeholder management skills
  • 2.1 or above in a STEM discipline, likely MSc
