Overview
In this role you lead a small, skilled tech team to deliver features and perform refactoring for a core banking platform within a well-funded FinTech. You work hands-on about half the time, shaping architecture and mentoring peers while driving continuous improvement. You collaborate with cross-functional colleagues and contribute to a platform that integrates with major banks like HSBC. This is a hands-on leadership role with meaningful impact on product scale and engineering culture.

- Perform refactoring and contribute to architecture and design decisions
- Mentor junior developers and conduct 1-2-1s and performance reviews
- Set engineering standards and foster continuous improvement
- Collaborate across functions and contribute to the core banking platform
- Manage a 50/50 split between architecture/design and people management
- Experienced Python developer with SDLC knowledge
- Proven team leadership and people management experience
- Strong cloud knowledge (GCP preferred; AWS/Azure acceptable)
- Experience building APIs, ideally with FastAPI
- Solid CI/CD, testing, and deployment understanding
- Strong CS fundamentals (OOP, data structures, design patterns, algorithms)
- Degree in STEM with 2.1 or higher
