Overview

In this role you will help deliver high-quality digital services by designing and maintaining automated tests for APIs, user journeys, and integrations. You will work with cross-functional teams to verify business outcomes and ensure release readiness. You’ll own automation quality, investigate failures, and improve test suite reliability and coverage. This position offers the chance to shape testing at scale within public-sector and broader client projects, using modern Java-based automation practices.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop and maintain automated API, integration and end-to-end tests using Java and popular frameworks
  • Contribute to reusable test components and maintainable automation frameworks
  • Define testable acceptance criteria and appropriate test scenarios with stakeholders
  • Integrate automated tests into Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines and provide timely feedback
  • Test asynchronous workflows, data persistence and downstream outcomes across distributed services
  • Investigate failures using logs, responses and queries, distinguishing defects from environment issues
  • Improve test suite reliability by reducing flaky tests and coverage gaps
  • Maintain test records and release evidence in Jira/Zephyr and communicate progress to stakeholders
Key requirements
  • Strong hands-on Java programming with automated test code
  • Experience with Serenity BDD, Cucumber/Gherkin, Selenium WebDriver and REST Assured
  • Understanding of HTTP/REST APIs, JSON, authentication and error handling
  • Experience testing distributed or microservice-based applications and asynchronous processing
  • SQL and log analysis for test data and failure investigation
  • Maven, Git, PRs and automated build pipelines
  • Experience in Azure DevOps YAML pipelines or similar CI/CD
  • Agile experience and behavior-driven development practices
  • Defect management with Jira/Zephyr
  • Eligibility to obtain SC clearance
