The Role
We are currently recruiting for a QA Coordinator to join the technical team at a busy hatchery operation in Shobdon.
This is a hands on quality role, with approximately 70% of your time spent on the shop/production floor and 30% office based, making it an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining practical quality assurance with data analysis and continuous improvement.
You will play an important role in monitoring and improving hatchery performance, with responsibility for egg quality, breeder flock fertility, incubation performance, chick quality and hygiene standards.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out physical and bacteriological egg quality assessments
Monitor egg core temperatures throughout the supply chain
Assess egg hygiene and the effectiveness of fumigation and sanitation processes
Analyse breeder flock fertility performance
Review hatch results and investigate incubation losses
Conduct detailed chick quality assessments
Produce reports and analyse technical data
Make recommendations to management based on findings
Monitor hygiene standards throughout the hatchery
Identify and report non conformances and support corrective actions
Assist with investigations and continuous improvement initiatives
Support food safety, animal welfare, biosecurity and quality standards
Participate in shift cover and on-call arrangements where required
About You
We are looking for someone who is proactive, organised and highly attentive to detail, with the ability to work confidently in a fast paced operational environment.
Previous experience within a hatchery, food production, manufacturing or quality environment would be desirable.
You'll ideally have:
Experience working within a quality, technical or production environment
Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret qualitative and quantitative data
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong attention to detail
Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word
The ability to work independently and as part of a wider team
A proactive and positive approach to problem solving
The ability to work to deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Working Hours
The role operates on a rotating weekly shift pattern:
Week 1: Monday to Friday
Week 2: Tuesday to Saturday
Shift times rotate between:
06:00 - 14:30
07:00 - 15:30
The Environment
This is a fast-paced, labour-intensive hatchery environment where hygiene, biosecurity, food safety and quality standards are extremely important. Approximately 70% of the role will be based on the hatchery floor, with the remainder being office-based.
