Help shape quality across a world-class technology environment

The Role

London Business School is looking for an experienced QA Engineer to help strengthen quality across our technology delivery teams.

This is a hands-on role with real ownership. You will act as the quality lead within a multidisciplinary delivery team, ensuring quality is built into solutions from the outset rather than tested in at the end.

You will define the test approach for your domain, challenge requirements, designs and implementation decisions where quality risks exist, and provide clear recommendations on release readiness. Working closely with Business Analysts, Developers, DevOps and stakeholders, you will combine automation, exploratory testing, structured UAT and appropriate non-functional testing to give teams confidence in what they are delivering.

Your influence will also go beyond your immediate team. You will help shape QA standards and practices, improve automation and test coverage, support colleagues with complex quality challenges and contribute to continuous improvement across our delivery teams.

The role is explicitly accountable for quality leadership, test strategy and release-readiness recommendations.

Main Responsibilities

  • Own quality within your delivery team throughout the delivery lifecycle.

  • Define and lead proportionate test strategies based on scope and risk.

  • Challenge requirements, designs and delivery decisions where quality is at risk.

  • Provide clear, evidence-based recommendations on release readiness.

  • Design, implement and maintain automated test suites and contribute to CI/CD integration.

  • Use manual, automated, exploratory, API and appropriate non-functional testing techniques.

  • Lead and coordinate UAT with business stakeholders.

  • Manage defects, quality risks and test reporting transparently.

  • Identify root causes and systemic quality issues, not just individual defects.

  • Help improve QA standards, automation, test coverage and quality practices across delivery teams.

  • Support and coach colleagues, sharing knowledge and strengthening quality capability.

The JD also expects the role to influence quality beyond the immediate delivery team and contribute to wider QA capability and standards.

Who We Are Looking For

  • You will bring strong hands-on QA experience together with the confidence and judgement to take ownership of quality.

    You will have:

    • Strong experience in software testing within Agile or hybrid delivery environments.

    • Hands-on experience with test automation and CI/CD pipelines.

    • Strong understanding of functional, regression, API and other appropriate testing techniques.

    • Experience leading UAT with business stakeholders.

    • Strong defect management and root cause analysis capability.

    • Confidence to challenge constructively and make your position clear when quality or release confidence is at risk.

    • Ability to work effectively across Business Analysis, Development, DevOps, Delivery and business stakeholders.

    • A continuous improvement mindset and the ability to influence stronger quality practices across teams.

Experience with Azure DevOps, complex multi-system environments, scripting or programming would be an advantage.

What makes this role different

We are looking for someone who wants to do more than execute testing.

You will have the opportunity to remain technically hands-on while taking genuine ownership for quality outcomes, release confidence and how quality engineering is practised across our delivery teams.

If you are an experienced QA Engineer looking for greater ownership, influence and the opportunity to raise the quality bar, we would love to hear from you.

Benefits You Can Enjoy

  • Generous annual leave of 27 days plus extra days between Christmas and New Year

  • USS pension, 14.5% employer contribution (in return for employee enrolment and contribution)

  • Free onsite gym and swimming pool

  • Amazing range of professional development to support your career path

  • Enhanced cycle to work scheme

  • Wellbeing offering to support your physical, mental and financial health
