Overview

As a QA Engineer within SThree’s Product, Delivery & Quality function, you embed in a cross-functional squad to build quality from the start. You combine hands-on test design and automation with a quality-advocacy remit, driving whole-team ownership and evidence-based release readiness. You will shape testability, automate fast feedback, and focus testing where risk is highest to enable safe, rapid delivery. This role offers influence over how software is built and released in a global, product-focused environment.

Responsibilities
  • Own the squad's test approach and embed quality across the lifecycle
  • Define and refine acceptance criteria to be testable and unambiguous
  • Apply risk-based prioritisation (RICE/MoSCoW) to testing
  • Design, maintain and execute functional, integration and E2E test cases
  • Perform exploratory testing and surface defects not covered by scripts
  • Validate cross-browser/device/environment behavior as needed
  • Build and maintain automated test suites (API, UI/E2E) and integrate into CI/CD as quality gates
  • Own contract testing for services (Pact, Postman)
  • Coordinate non-functional testing (performance, load, resilience, security, accessibility)
  • Triage, log and track defects with clear reproduction steps
  • Manage test data and environments for realistic testing
  • Maintain quality signals (coverage, escaped defects, flake rate) and provide release readiness input
  • Promote continuous improvement based on testing insights and retrospectives
  • Work with engineers and product to coach quality practices and testability
Key requirements
  • Demonstrable QA/Test Engineer experience in an agile, product-focused environment
  • Hands-on test automation across API and UI/E2E (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, RestAssured)
  • Strong test design techniques and risk-based prioritisation (RICE/MoSCoW)
  • Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
  • Knowledge of contract testing and API assurance (Pact, Postman)
  • Familiarity with non-functional testing (performance, load, resilience, security, accessibility)
  • Familiar with defect management and test tooling (JIRA, Zephyr/Xray, TestRail)
  • Understanding of test data and environment management with compliant data
  • Ability to read/prioritize tests with some code reading to design tests
  • Strong communication to translate quality signals to the squad and stakeholders
  • Quality-obsessed mindset with preventative approach
  • Pragmatic balance of thoroughness and delivery pace
  • Collaborative and influential when building a quality culture
