Overview

As QA Lead you will own the test strategy for an unannounced project and drive build validation, defect management, and QA reporting. You’ll mentor and develop a team of testers, ensuring they have the tools and confidence to deliver high-quality work. You’ll partner with developers, leadership, and publishers to represent QA and shape quality across the project lifecycle. This role combines hands-on testing with strategic leadership in a fast-paced game development environment.

Responsibilities
  • Own the test strategy for the project across all development stages
  • Lead build validation (BVT, Smoke, LKG) and triage results
  • Manage the full defect lifecycle including creation, validation, and tracking
  • Build, maintain, and evolve test plans and environments across QA channels
  • Produce regular QA reporting for team and project leadership
  • Own the QA risk register and contribute to wider project risks
  • Lead, coach and develop the QA team, including 1on1s and performance management
  • Coordinate outsourced QA resources and liaise with publisher QA
  • Represent QA in agile ceremonies and leadership reviews
  • Maintain QA documentation and contribute to future project proposals
  • Communicate QA voice within team hierarchy and across the project
Key requirements
  • Proven QA Lead or Test Lead experience in games development
  • Strong grasp of build validation and defect lifecycle management
  • Experience writing test plans and QA reporting
  • People-management experience
  • Confident communicator with developers, leadership and publishers
  • Proficient with bug tracking and documentation tools (JIRA, Confluence)
  • Flexible with strong organisational skills
  • Passion for games and knowledge of console/PC hardware and development tools
  • Ability to problem solve and improve testing accuracy and coverage on an ongoing basis
