QA Lead / Test Lead – Perm

As QA Lead / Test Lead, you will establish and scale the testing function in a growing technology business. You will shape testing standards, implement practical processes, and perform hands-on testing across web and mobile apps. The role blends hands-on quality work with strategic input to raise product quality and reduce production defects. You will partner with developers and tech leadership to identify risks and drive a quality-first culture, with opportunities to introduce automation and AI-assisted testing as the team grows.

• Assess current development and testing practices to identify quality risks and improvement opportunities
• Define and implement a practical test strategy including planning, design, functional/regression testing and release sign-off
• Establish repeatable testing processes that complement developer-led unit testing
• Select and introduce tools for test management, defect tracking, and future automation
• Define testing standards for consistent adoption across the development team
• Plan and execute functional, regression, integration, and user acceptance testing for web and mobile apps
• Identify defects, assess impact, and provide actionable feedback to developers
• Perform retesting and regression testing to verify fixes
• Document defects with reproduction steps and environments in GitHub Issues or equivalent
• Prioritise defects by severity and release risk; track through resolution
• Maintain visibility of issues and communicate quality risks to stakeholders
• Collaborate with developers and tech leadership to promote a quality-first culture
• Advise on future QA structure, resources, and growth of the testing function
• Progress toward building and leading a dedicated testing team

• Proven experience in a QA Lead, Test Lead, Senior QA Engineer, or similar role
• Experience developing or implementing test strategies, standards, and tools
• Strong hands-on manual testing experience and defect documentation
• Experience testing web applications and mobile apps
• Technical understanding of C#/.NET, Angular/AngularJS, and SQL Server environments
• Experience collaborating with developers to improve testing practices
• Ability to establish a testing function without an existing QA team
• Pragmatic testing approach balancing thoroughness with delivery deadlines and evolving requirements
