Overview

As a Quality Assurance Lead, you shape quality culture across SSAS scientific operations, enabling compliant, efficient testing in anti-doping and related analyses. You’ll partner with diverse teams to translate accreditation requirements into practical solutions, driving continuous improvement of the Quality Management System. You’ll lead audits, investigations, and change control while coordinating with external bodies to secure successful outcomes. This role offers variety, problem solving, and the chance to transform complex challenges into workable quality solutions within a dynamic lab environment.

Responsibilities
  • Act as a trusted quality partner across SSAS, providing guidance on compliance, risk, and continuous improvement
  • Support multiple scientific and operational teams, adapting to different requirements
  • Lead improvement initiatives strengthening the QMS and operational effectiveness
  • Interpret accreditation requirements and translate into practical solutions
  • Deputise for ISO 17025 Quality Manager and support accredited quality framework
  • Collaborate with teams and external accreditation bodies, coordinating work as a project manager
  • Assess improvement actions by criticality, severity, and business impact
  • Lead audits, root cause investigations, corrective actions, risk assessments, and change control
  • Support development and optimisation of the eQMS
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes through technology and smarter working (e.g., SharePoint and digital quality tools)
  • Coach and support colleagues from junior to senior levels
Key requirements
  • Experience in an ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited laboratory environment
  • Strong understanding of quality management systems, accreditation, and compliance
  • Experience leading audits, investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement
  • Ability to grasp different teams, processes, and requirements quickly
  • Experience implementing or improving quality systems, ideally with digital QMS exposure
  • Strong project management skills coordinating across multiple teams
  • Excellent communication with ability to influence and build relationships
