Quantitative Developer
Stanford Black Limited
Turn cutting-edge research into code that trades billions.
This isn't a "build the backend for a trading desk" role.
You'll sit embedded directly with quantitative researchers: the engineering partner who takes a mathematical idea from whiteboard to production, at a firm where technology is the research process, not a support function for it.
What you could be working on
- Research platforms used daily by some of the best quant researchers in the industry
- Back-testing and simulation frameworks processing enormous, complex datasets
- Portfolio optimisation and real-time research tooling
- Productionising mathematical models - from prototype to live trading
- Distributed computing and large-scale compute infrastructure
- Performance engineering at a level most engineers never get to touch
What we're looking for
- Deep, hands-on experience in Python, C++, or Rust. Fluency, not just familiarity
- Strong grasp of algorithms, data structures, and systems performance
- A track record of building serious software end-to-end
- Curiosity that extends outside your own discipline - you read papers outside "your" field and ask "could this apply here?"
- A strong academic background from a top-tier Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics programme.
- 5+ years experience
You might currently be at:
a top prop trading firm, hedge fund, Big Tech, an AI research lab, a scientific computing group, or a high-performance/distributed-systems team.
Why this is different
- You work with the research, not downstream of it
- Proper technical ownership from day one - no multi-year ladder before your ideas matter
- Problems at a scale and difficulty most engineering roles never offer
- Elite peer group - some of the strongest researchers and engineers in the industry
