Overview
As the Radar Sector Chief Systems Engineer, you lead and govern Systems Engineering across Leonardo’s radar portfolio, ensuring robust architecture, integration, and verification. You’ll shape SE strategy, governance, and capability development to raise engineering confidence and improve customer outcomes. You’ll collaborate with sector leaders to drive modern SE practices and cross‑sector learning. This role offers influence over critical radar programs and the chance to mentor future chief engineers.

- Own sector SE strategy, governance, and technical authority across radar sectors
- Define and maintain SE metrics and capability improvements across radar sectors
- Develop and maintain radar SE capability roadmap and critical skills
- Strengthen collaboration across engineering disciplines
- Act as primary contact for SE matters with sector leadership and external bodies
- Deliver a clear SE execution strategy with measurable outcomes for radar programs
- Mentor successors and support progression toward senior engineering roles
- Support Lifecycle Management activities, design reviews, audits, and early lifecycle guidance
- Identify cross‑sector trends and opportunities to improve efficiency and quality
- Represent Leonardo in external SE bodies or forums
- Coordinate with peer Chief Systems Engineers across the UK
- Experience in Systems Engineering governance and lifecycle processes at sector or programme level
- Ability to capture and interpret stakeholder expectations
- Experience defining architectures and guiding architectural decisions
- Proven leadership in dynamic, high‑complexity environments
- Excellent communication with engineering, leadership, and customers
- Understanding of integration challenges on long‑running complex programmes
- Strong bias toward measurement and experimentation to accelerate learning
- Security clearance requirements (BPSS with possible NSV/SC/DV)
