Locums Interventional Radiologist Opportunity - Altoona, Pennsylvania Availability & Schedule

  • Start Date: January 4, 2027

  • Estimated Need: 7 shifts/month

  • Coverage Model: Typically 1 week on / 1 week off, Monday-Sunday

  • Weekday Hospital Hours: 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM

  • Weekday Call: 4:00 PM - 7:00 AM

  • Saturday & Sunday Call: 7:00 AM - 7:00 AM

  • Call: Yes - telephone, 30-minute response

  • Solo Practice: Yes

Licensure & Certifications

  • Pennsylvania License: REQUIRED to apply

  • IMLC Candidates: Accepted

  • DEA: REQUIRED

  • ACLS: REQUIRED

  • BLS: REQUIRED

  • CSR: Not required

  • Board Status: Board Certified or Truly Board Eligible

  • Minimum Experience: 5 years

Clinical Requirements

  • Community Interventional Radiology skillset

  • Must be comfortable with DR reading responsibilities

  • Must provide APP oversight for procedures within their skillset

  • Comfortable working as the only IR radiologist onsite

  • Ratio: 70% IR / 30% Diagnostic Radiology

Typical Procedures

  • Lumbar punctures

  • Thoracentesis

  • Paracentesis

  • Biopsies

  • Interventional radiology procedures

Practice Environment

  • Trauma Level: III

  • Beds: 380

  • APP Support: 3 IR APPs

  • Diagnostic Radiology Support: 1-2 diagnostic radiologists onsite during weekdays

  • EMR: Epic Bridges

  • Voice Recognition: PowerScribe

Typical Volume

  • Average Cases: 10/day

  • Outpatients: 3/day

  • Inpatients: 7/day

  • Consults: 2/day

  • Evaluations: 2/day

  • Patient Mix: 95% adult / 5% pediatric

  • Medical: 25%

  • Surgical: 50%

  • Trauma: 25%

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Perform community IR procedures

  • Oversee IR APPs performing procedures

  • Provide DR reads between procedures as needed

  • Respond to emergent IR procedures overnight and throughout weekends
