Overview

In this Rail Systems Integration Engineer role, you will coordinate interfaces across railway, civil, stations and contractors to ensure seamless design-to-construction delivery. You will manage technical interfaces, assurance activities and stakeholder coordination throughout the project lifecycle on a nationally significant rail programme. Your work will ensure reliability, safety, interoperability and secure operations across multiple rail systems. You will collaborate with design, assurance, construction and delivery teams to resolve interface challenges and drive integrated outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Manage railway systems integration activities from design through construction and commissioning
  • Develop and maintain Functional Specifications, Architecture Specifications and Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
  • Coordinate design interfaces between rail systems, civil works, stations and third-party stakeholders
  • Chair and facilitate systems integration and design coordination meetings
  • Support change management, risk identification and opportunity management activities
  • Provide technical input to commercial and contractual matters where required
  • Build strong relationships with clients, contractors, designers and internal project teams
  • Support interface resolution and technical decision-making across the programme
Key requirements
  • Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering or a related discipline
  • Experience on large, multidisciplinary rail infrastructure projects
  • Proven background in systems integration, design coordination and interface management
  • Knowledge of railway systems, operational requirements and integration processes
  • Experience preparing and managing technical assurance documentation
  • Desirable Chartered status (or working towards chartership)
  • Knowledge of RAM (Reliability, Availability and Maintainability), Railway System Safety, Interoperability requirements, Security Management
  • Knowledge of relevant rail industry regulations and standards, including CDM, CSM and RIR
