In this role you lead telecoms design and engineering for major rail projects, providing technical assurance and governance across the project lifecycle. You work with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, compliant delivery and support renewals and digital railway initiatives. You mentor engineers, engage clients and stakeholders, and help shape large-scale rail telecommunications solutions. - Lead telecoms design and engineering activities across the project lifecycle
- Provide technical assurance, design review, and engineering governance
- Support telecoms renewals, enhancements, and digital railway programmes
- Manage technical risks, interfaces, and system integration activities
- Mentor junior engineers and support professional development
- Engage with clients, contractors, and key stakeholders
- Significant experience within rail telecommunications engineering
- Strong knowledge of FTN/FTNx, fibre optics, IP networking, GSM-R, CCTV, PA, CIS, and telecoms transmission systems
- Experience working within Network Rail or major rail infrastructure environments
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards professional registration is desirable
